QUICK  OVERVIEW

WHY DO WE WANT TRAMS IN BATH?

 A Better Environment

REDUCED
POLLUTION

REDUCED
CONGESTION

REDUCED
NOISE

Trams are electrically powered and completely fume-free. They have the proven ability to attract motorists out of their cars and this will reduce car-exhaust pollution too.

Trams attract passengers. One tram can remove a quarter of a mile of traffic jam. Tram tracks can often be diverted to avoid 'bottlenecks' so tram services remain reliable, even in the rush-hour.

Modern trams are extremely quiet and will considerably reduce overall traffic noise.

Remember:  Bath is a World Heritage City

Better Public Transport

  FASTER
SERVICE

 EASIER
ACCESS

RELIABLE

A modern tramway could easily achieve a 7 minute service. Timetables would not be needed, you just turn up at the stop.

Low floor trams give level access for wheel-chairs, buggies and people with impaired mobility.

Trams will get you there on time. Tramway staff are proud of their superb reputation for reliability

 REDUCED FARES

Trams are much cheaper to run than buses. Even allowing for the cost of installation, trams should bring fares down.

Increased Trade and Prosperity

Easy Access for
Shops and Businesses

Better Use
of Land

Improved
Property Values

Good public transport is the key to increased trade without increased congestion. Easy access will improve city centre shopping and leisure.
Reliable transport makes getting to work easier.

Land wasted on roads and car parking could be put to better, more profitable use.
Increased density of businesses and shops will regenerate an area.

A tramway is seen as an irreversible investment in the transport infrastructure. Property values are always enhanced by a tramway corridor .

Tramways are expensive to install, but cheap to run - so this means:

  • They run a frequent service
  • They run long hours
  • You can plan your future around tramways because they do not keep changing.
