HOW A DYNAMO IS CONTROLLED

The magnetism which causes the dynamo to generate electrical power is created by electric current flowing through the windings on the pole pieces. This current is far smaller than the output current of the dynamo.

The output voltage of the dynamo depends on the speed of rotation and the strength of the magnetic field.

By increasing or decreasing this magnetising current, the output voltage of the dynamo can be increased or decreased, even though it is stll rotating at the same speed
